Manchester United have officially announced the free transfer of Ben Amos to Bolton on a permanent deal, with his contract at Old Trafford having expired.
The 6ft 3in stopper spent the end of last season on loan with the Trotters and impressed enough to earn a contract at the Macron Stadium in the wake of Adam Bogdan's move to Liverpool.
TRANSFER CONFIRMED
It was confirmed via United’s official Twitter account that the ‘keeper has indeed left Louis van Gaal’s fold, although many will have been expecting it for some time.
Despite initially being tipped for big things Amos had slumped behind David de Gea, Victor Valdes and even Anders Lindegaard in the United pecking order, making it incredible unlikely that he was ever going to be given first-team opportunities under Van Gaal.
The 25-year-old made seven appearances in all competitions during his United career, including one in the Premier League in 2012, but the task of climbing the Old Trafford rungs was one even the most redoubtable of individuals wouldn’t have relished.
