Fake Doctor Owes Federal Government N17m

An assessment by Integrated Personnel and Payment Information System (IPPIS) has shown that Martin Ugwu Okpe, who impersonated his friend to work in the Ministry of Health since 2006, owes the Federal Government more than N17million in salaries and allowances.
IPPIS arrived at exactly N17,024,017.90 through pay slips and performance evaluation cards as money Okpe owes government.
The amount excludes tax and union dues through nine years which were paid to the government, according to IPPIS.
The health ministry is looking for “full retrieval” of money that accrued to Okpe in the past nine years, according to Permanent Secretary Linus Awute.

Okpe worked in the Department of Health Planning Research and Statistics as a Grade-12 senior medical officer using the credentials and name of a Dr George Davidson Daniel, his friend and a doctor doing residency in Jos.
Okpe was charged to court last Tuesday and remanded in Kuje prisons pending the fulfilment of his bail condition. The court will hear the case on October 10.

Dr. Dre Releasing First Album in More than 15 Years for "Grand Finale"

Going out with a bang. Dr. Dre will release his first new album in more than 15 years this week as what he calls his "grand finale."

The "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" rapper, 50, will debut Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre on Friday, Aug. 7, nearly 16 years after the release of his sophomore album, November 1999's 2001. While Dre has been famously active in the music industry in the decades since his last album, he has yet to release a full project of his own studio recordings.

The Beats By Dre creator, who sold his company to Apple for $3 billion, announced his plans for Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre this past weekend during The Pharmacy, his radio show on Apple Music's Beats 1 radio.
He explained that he was inspired to begin work on the album with the upcoming premiere of Straight Outta Compton, the biopic that tells the tale of rap group N.W.A.'s rise to fame.

"I felt myself being so inspired by the movie that I started to record an album," Dr. Dre said. "It’s going to be my grand finale. The record is bananas."

Dre, who is played in the movie by Corey Hawkins, also served as a producer for the big-screen adaptation of the California performers' recording career.

From the looks of the tracklist for Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre, it is likely to be, in fact, "bananas." Oritz Wiliki Says Majek Fashek's Problem Are Beyond Drugs, Its Spiritual

Reggae star, Oritz Wiliki says the problems plaguing his fellow reggae legend Majek Fashek is beyond drugs. He says it's spiritual.

"His problem is beyond drugs; it is spiritual. Sometimes, if you have a one-on-one conversation with him, he would discuss with you as if nothing was wrong with him. I also think part of the problems is that he is not engaged. You know, an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. If we put him in rehab and he finds something doing after he is okay, Majek will be well 100 per cent I can assure you. Even in his present condition, he still maintains the same aura on stage that he had when he was the rave. I believe that if he is busy going on music tours, there will be no problem" he told Sunnews Online.

Woman’s Corpse Abandoned at Rubbish Dump in Ogun

The corpse of a 23-year-old lady has been abandoned at a dump in the Olomoore junction in Abeokuta, Ogun State, with a chunk of flesh severed from her body.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the victim, who was found on Sunday, was identified simply as Sitira, an apprentice hair dresser.
She was said to have been preparing for her graduation before the incident happened.
Many residents were said to have stormed the Lafenwa Police Division where the corpse was initially taken to by the police.

PUNCH Metro gathered that late Sitira’s corpse was allegedly thrown off a moving vehicle at the Olomoore dump on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
Littering the site were ladies items such as panties, brassieres, lipsticks and powder kits.

Some metres away from the spot where the items were seen, was the half-clothed Sitira’s corpse, with her armless camisole and leggings intact.
An observation of the corpse revealed that substantial flesh from Sitira’s right arm was cut off, with body fluid oozing out.

A middle-aged woman, Esther Adewuyi, who identified herself as a relative of Sitira, said the 23-year-old lady, who lost her only child two years ago, had been living with her mother in the Iberekodo area of the Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
Adewuyi said, “Sitira was an apprentice at a hairdressing salon and she was last seen in their house around 10pm on Saturday where she and her mother discussed plans for her graduation.
“Nobody, including her younger siblings, knew when she went out.”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that Sitira was killed and dumped at the site.
He said, “We found the corpse in the area but we have taken the corpse to a mortuary.
“We cannot confirm the cause of her death now, but preliminary investigation revealed that there was an injury in one of her arms and it looked like she was killed somewhere else.
“The positioning of the corpse showed that she was dumped in that place, but we cannot ascertain the cause of her death. We found her on a refuse dump.
“We cannot say it is kidnapping or ritual killing but we will conduct proper investigation on the incident.”

OMG! 600 Men Slept With Me – 24 Year-old Student Confesses

For 24 year-old Beatrice, love making is a way of life.

She said she resorted to using what she has to get what she needs when her boyfriend who was sponsoring her education abandoned her following lies told against her by jealous friends.

“My boyfriend whom I met at Onitsha, Anambra State when I went to visit an uncle was sponsoring my education. We had agreed to get married as soon as possible. Then some people I regarded as friends started peddling wicked lies against me and without confirming if what they were saying was true or false, he called it quits just like that. They told him I had an incurable disease. So, I decided to help myself because my parents cannot do anything for me. We are poor. My father used to be a driver but he is now a lumber jack while my mother is a full time housewife. Sometimes, she sells vegetables, ” she explained.

She said that when her boyfriend walked out of the relationship, she got a job in the bar section of a hotel but her take-home pay could barely take her anywhere. So, one day, she went to a nightclub with her friends and a man took her to his hotel room. The following morning, the man gave her N15,000 for services rendered and she was hooked.

“They were paying me N10,000 a month and you work late hours. But if you go out to hustle in the night, you can get that kind of money within a day or two. About 600 men slept with me from last year to this year.”

But Beatrice is now singing a different tune. She said that she later discovered that prostitution is not as lucrative as she had thought.

She said that she is tired of warming men’s bed every night, adding that she wants to settle down.

Divorce Mess: Emeka Ike’s Wife Insists On Separation

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike now seems to be living out his life in courts. From the eviction court tussle with his landlord over the property on which his school was situated, to the battle for the presidency of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, and the far-from-over divorce mess his wife has dragged him into, there seems to be no end in sight with his romance with courts.

When the news broke that his wife of over twelve years, Emma Ike, had filed a divorce suit against the actor on allegation of domestic violence, the actor was quick to squash it as mere rumour and insisted that his marriage is intact, claiming he had not received any divorce notice.

“As I’m talking to you now, I have not received any divorce notice. Nothing like that happened. I have not received any letter from anybody. I am a Christian, we don’t divorce” he told one of our reporters who sought him out on the issue.

Barely a week after his claim, the case came before a  Lagos Island customary court where his wife’s petition for dissolution of their marriage was heard. Though Emeka was not in court but his counsel was and so was Emma and her counsel.

In his presentation, Emeka’s counsel prayed the court to adjourn the case for the next hearing to six months, citing possibility of settlement between the couple before then.

“My client is ill but I will try my possible best to ensure that he comes on the next adjourned date. We indulge the court to give us six months from this day to see if there is possibility of settlement between the couple,” he said.

In her response, Emma said six months was too long, adding that the respondent had two years to reconcile with her but didn’t.

“The last time I wanted to speak with our children, it was my mother-in-law who picked the call and asked if I had read Exodus 21 which says that if I go, I shouldn’t return,” she said. Subsequently, the court President held that only two weeks can be granted and thereafter August 12, 2015 was fixed as next hearing date.

Charleston Gunman Who Killed 9 In Black Church Pleads Not Guilty To All Charges

The man accused of murdering nine black churchgoers last month in Charleston, South Carolina, has pleaded not guilty on more than 33 federal charges. Twenty-one-year old Dylann Roof, who is white, wanted to plead guilty on all counts according to his lawyer.

His lawyer, David Bruck, said he would not enter guilty pleas for Mr Roof until prosecutors determined whether they would seek the death penalty.

US Judge Bristow Marchant entered the not guilty plea on all counts.

Mr Roof appeared in the courtroom shackled. He was silent except for a few “yes” responses to the judge’s inquiries.

Church representatives and the family members of victims of the 17 June attack also spoke briefly.

The charges against Mr Roof include hate crimes, weapons charges and obstructing the practice of religion.

Police have said the shooting was racially motivated and Roof has been linked to a website featuring racist writings.

Mr Roof also faces charges from the state of South Carolina, including nine counts of murder.

Lagos Hotelier’s Son Dies In Hotel Room

The Operations Manager of Maybeny Hotel at Ire-Akari Road in Isolo, Lagos, Mr. Uche Egwuenu, was found dead in one of the rooms in the hotel on Saturday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

A source close to the hotel told NAN in Lagos that the deceased was the son of the owner of the hotel, whose name was given simply as Chief Egwuenu.

The source said, “The deceased was last seen in the early hours of Friday before locking himself up in one of the rooms. Nobody heard from him throughout Friday.

“The assistant manager and other staff of the hotel reported the matter at the Isolo Divisional Police Headquarters, which prompted the DPO’s visit to the hotel for assessment.

“The DPO and others forced the room open and Uche was found dead and swollen on the bed, an indication that he died more than 24 hours before discovery.

“White liquid substance suspected to be hard drugs, diary and a bottle of Orijin drink with mixed liquid, were recovered from the room.”

When NAN visited the hotel at about 3pm on Saturday, a wedding reception was on, an indication that the visitors were not aware of the incident.

Efforts by NAN to speak with the management of the hotel proved abortive as people at the reception claimed that such incident did not happen at the hotel.

However, the Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Patricia Amadin, confirmed the incident.

She said policemen from the Isolo Division had deposited the corpse at the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

Amadin, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, added that the police would investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

See Bill Gate’s Wife Carries Water on Her Head And Washes Dishes In Malawi

Melinda Gates, who is the wife of the richest man in the world, Bill Gates, was recently in Malawi for a visit. She said during her stay there, she joined women to fetch water and she carried 20 liters of water and it was tough for her.

She said the woman in the middle, Chrissy, carried 40 liters of water and was very impressed at how the women in the picture were able to do so effortlessly.

She shared this photo and captioned it:

Helping wash the dishes during my homestay in Malawi. Women spend much of the day cooking and then cleaning up. It’s a reminder that it’s a lot more time consuming to do dishes when you can’t just turn on a faucet.
